About Houmeli Apartments
Welcome to Houmeli Apartments, a small family-run place in Kalamaki, South Crete, created with care, hospitality and love for simple, relaxing holidays close to nature.
Our accommodation consists of four different homes — Louiza, Levanta, Skinos and Iviskos — designed to welcome couples, families and groups of friends who want to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of South Crete. Around the apartments, guests can enjoy the shared swimming pool, barbecue area and traditional wood oven, spaces made for relaxing moments and beautiful summer evenings.
Nature is an important part of the Houmeli experience. The garden is full of trees, herbs and flowers that create natural shade, pleasant aromas and a calm atmosphere throughout the day. We try to respect the environment and keep the balance between comfort, nature and traditional Cretan hospitality.
Houmeli Apartments are located in Kalamaki, in the south of Heraklion prefecture, about 70 km from Heraklion Airport and Port. The area is quiet and ideal for visitors looking for relaxing holidays near the sea, while still being close to some of the most beautiful places in South Crete, including Matala, Kommos beach, Phaistos and the Messara plain.
The beach and village center are within easy walking distance, making the location convenient for families with children, couples and guests who prefer peaceful holidays without long daily drives.
From May until the end of October, guests can enjoy the shared swimming pool or relax under the shade of the garden trees. Kalamaki itself is known for its long sandy beach, beautiful sunsets and authentic atmosphere. The area is also connected with the protected Caretta Caretta sea turtles, which nest on nearby beaches during the summer months.
From the village, visitors can enjoy beautiful views towards the Libyan Sea, the Paximadia islands and the coastline of South Crete. We truly enjoy meeting people from around the world and we always do our best to help guests feel comfortable, welcome and at home during their stay.
